They have arrived!

LS00018lg

Today we as Catholics, and Christians alike, celebrate when the three wise men come bearing gifts for Jesus! Why is this important? Well think about who comes to worship Jesus in the manger. You have everyone from the lowliest shepherds( who were considered the bottom of the pile then) to wise magi traveling from far lands just to see and give praise to a baby….born on the floor of a stable, a barn…with animals! That gave a great importance, that this savior was for all men. Everyone had access to Him. He was and is for all who come. That’s a pretty big deal and it says so much.

After some looking on Pinterest, I found some coloring pages along with the idea for a new tradition. I would greatly like to move Christmas back to where is originally belonged. The time between Christmas Eve and Epiphany, which is today. (You know, that twelve days of Christmas?)

So back to my new idea, it’s a take on the Elf on the Shelf idea, but uses the three wise men! (click on the picture for a link to Catholicinspired’s blog)

It follow's them on their search for the baby Jesus and as you see, they look in some pretty funny places. I’m hoping to get a deal in the off season on this Playmobil set I’ve been eying for years.

Well, I better be off and get the boys and I around for today. Happy Epiphany everyone! God Bless.

Project 365

Since I got an awesome new camera for Christmas (Thanks Joe!), I thought I would try something I've wanted to do for a couple of years. It's called Project 365 and you take a photo each day, according to the list. They give you a word, and you photograph it. Whether it's a picture of the word, something that is a certain color, an idea, etc. It's a neat way to photo journal a whole year!

First on the list was Resolve. After some looking, I realized that it means a couple of different things, depending on the form. So, not only can it clean carpet, it also means to to come to a definite or earnest decision about something. To determine upon something. It also means to break apart, or transform.

So, of course I took the artistic approach and used an old photo I had taken and came up with this.

1) Resolve

It was either that or a Resolve spray bottle, hehehe.

Command Center

With two growing boys in school, food allergies, and the daily grind of life, I've been needing a little bit of help getting it all to go smoothly. In fact, I keep ideas I've found on a Pin board completely devouted to Family and Home managment! And something I've really liked and wanted to make is a "command center" for the kitchen.
Since it's a whole new year, I've FINALLY made up our own, lol!

I have three frames that hold our meal plan, a cleaning schedule and a bill tracker on the the top. With the glass, you can turn your plan/schedule into a dry erase board! Then we have a dry erase calendar and a misc. (Key hooks, cork board, and filing slots for markers/pens/hole punch for their tech. punch cards!)

Now, we aren't a super scheduled family, but life is so much easier when all of your to-dos are in one area. Even better, it can be reviewed at a glance and changed with a swipe of the dry eraser! I plan on adding a chore chart, so the boys (and I) can keep track of what they've done.

Tech Time

One of the things the boys spent their Christmas money on was some new games for our Wii and PS3. Which in turn brought a problem to light....again.

When school started, I placed a rule on the boys that they could have 30 min tv time everyday during the school week, and no video games except on the weekend. But since Christmas break, they have been enjoying the games much more and I thought it was time to come up with a better schedule for them.

I was looking in Pinterest for a reading schedule, when I came across this gem, technology punch cards! This particulary blog has some great ideas and free printables. I printed them off this morning and intend to use them when school starts back up (next week)

Each punch represents 30 min. of tech. time that they have to stretch out over a month. AND, they have to earn each punch by completeing a set amount of reading time! I'm hoping that this will help them (and me!) out. Luke especially needs more time reading and I think this may just be the ticket.
